Staying in touch with your student
By phone: Each student is required to have a working telephone number. It can be a cell phone or a land line. If using a landline,
simply plug in a land-line phone into the phone jack provided in each dorm room. Students can make local calls
and receive long distance calls on this phone. Messages left on the land line voice mail will also be delivered to their e-mail inbox.
By e-mail: your student’s address will be: “last name, first name initial, 2-digit graduation year” so John Smith, Class of 2012
would have an e-mail address of SmithJ12@kent-school.edu

Parent Permissions
Parents who wish to give their student permission for day trips with other Kent School families, need to
submit a note in writing (email or fax delivery is fine) naming who your student can ride with.
All drivers must be 21 years of age or older or a family member. This note can be a general note for example:
My daughter, (name), may ride with any Kent School parent for a day trip this school year, 2011- 2012.
Or
My son, (name), may ride with the following families for a day trip this school year: Mr. and Mrs. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Allen.
- Overnight and Weekend Permission:
Details are spelled out on pages 21 and 22 of our Student and Parent Information Bulletin. The Bulletin is posted on the Parent Portal.
In summary though; please submit to permissions@kent-school.edu , your note of permission for your son or daughter. We need
the note to state when they will leave and return to campus, who they are being driven by, and where they are going. If they will be someone’s guest,
we will need a note of invitation from their host. All students must be in the company of an adult, age 21 or over. Students will need to confirm their plans in writing.
All permissions should be submitted by 3 pm on Thursdays please.

Kent Strives to conserve energy
Kent School is working to conserve energy and reduce the school's carbon footprint. You can help!
- Please be mindful of energy conservation when choosing electronic items for your child's dorm room.
Studies conducted last year at Kent School show that the biggest energy hogs in the dorms include
older refrigerators, large monitors, incandescent light bulbs, and certain game consoles.
- Please provide a power strip to handle computers, monitors, stereos, chargers, and other devices that
draw power even when not in use. Shutting down such devices by switching off a power strip at night could
reduce a dorm room's electricity use by 5% or more.

International Students
- Please remember to give us the name and contact information for a U. S. based guardian. The guardian
is only contacted in the event we cannot contact a parent first. A U.S. phone number is also needed for our automated
Alert system should we need to notify families. Additionally, international students will often visit their guardian
during vacations when our campus is closed.
- Please be sure you have your appointment for your I-20 and Visa so that you can arrive to campus on time.
